⚡ Electrya Age Divisions

  • ⚡ Mini Spark — Ages 6 & under
    ⚡ Petite Pulse — Ages 7–9
    ⚡ Junior Current — Ages 10–12
    ⚡ Teen Voltage — Ages 13–15
    ⚡ Senior — Ages 16–19

  • ⚡ Adult - Ages 20+

⚡ Age Determination

​

⚡ Solos: Dancer’s age is determined by their birthdate as of January 1st of the current competition year.

​

⚡Duets, Trios & Groups: Add up all dancers’ ages, find the average, and round down to the nearest whole number (decimals do not count). The final number determines the group’s age division.

⚡ Performance Divisions & Time Limits

⚡ Electrya Note:
Time begins with the first movement, sound, or lighting cue and ends with the final note or motion. Please be sure your routines stay within the limits to keep the event running bright and on time!

⚡ Competition Levels

  • ⚡ Lightning Division – For dancers training 6 or more hours per week and ready to take on the highest level of competition.

  • ⚡ Competitive Division – For dancers training 3–6 hours per week who have some competition experience and are continuing to grow their performance skills.

  • ⚡ Performance Division – For dancers training fewer than 3 hours per week, ideal for those newer to the competition stage or building confidence.

  • ⚡ Starburst Division – A supportive category created for dancers with special needs or disabilities, celebrating expression, joy, and movement.

Director’s Discretion:
Studio directors have the flexibility to determine the appropriate level for each dancer or routine based on training, ability, and experience to ensure fair and positive competition.

  • At Electrya, every style gets its chance to shine — from lyrical grace to high-voltage flips, we celebrate movement in all its forms.

  • ⚡ Contemporary: Lyrical, modern, and jazz fusion that sparks creativity and technical precision.

  • ⚡ Lyrical: Expressive routines emphasizing balance, extension, and heartfelt storytelling.

  • ⚡ Jazz: Classic and modern jazz performed with sharp technique, rhythm, and flair.

  • ⚡ Musical Theater: Dance inspired by Broadway, movies, or TV, full of character, fun, and stage presence.

  • ⚡ Hip Hop: Urban and street styles packed with energy, attitude, and rhythm.

  • ⚡ Tap: Syncopated rhythms on tap shoes, combining musicality and performance sparkle.

  • ⚡ Clogging: Traditional or contemporary clogging with precision, rhythm, and dynamic footwork.

  • ⚡ Ballet: Classical ballet showcasing grace, poise, and flawless technique.

  • ⚡ Pointe: Ballet on pointe shoes, demonstrating strength, balance, and elegance.

  • ⚡ Modern: Free and expressive dance that pushes movement boundaries and personal expression.

  • ⚡ Open: Any fusion or combination of styles, perfect for dancers who like to mix it up.

  • ⚡ Acro: Incorporates controlled acrobatics, flips, and lifts, with dance technique as the star.

⚡ Props

  • To keep every performance safe, spectacular, and stage-ready, Electrya has the following prop rules:

  • ✅ Allowed Props

  • Only free-standing props are permitted on stage.

  • ❌ Not Allowed

  • Liquids, glitter, gels, smoke, powders, paint, or any material that may damage the floor, unless pre-approved by the competition team.

​

  • 📏 Size & Height Limits

  • Maximum prop height: 12 feet

  • Dancers may stand no taller than 5’10” when using props

​

  • 👥 Human Props

  • Any human props must be registered participants and will count toward the group’s age average.

​

  • ⚡ Technical Restrictions

  • Plugged-in or electrical props are not allowed to prevent technical issues.

  • Helium balloons require prior approval from Electrya staff.
